Welcome to this week’s Blog Share Wednesday!

We are here to support UK based artisans, designers and makers – simply everyone who has a creative business. Whether you are just starting out or have a more established business, you are very welcome to join us.

If this is your first time here, have a look at our simple rules before you link your blog post.

Since we are just starting, the link will be open for the whole week, just to give everyone a chance to get involved and catch up with all the wonderful blogs.

So, how is your week shaping up?

Recently somebody asked me: ‘What’s the best thing about being self-employed? Before I could even think about the answer properly, I blurted out: ‘You can do pretty much what you want!’

Now, most of the time, this is really good thing. You can decide on your workload and fit it around your other commitments. You can decide to go out for a walk when it’s sunny. You can stay at home and work when it’s raining, especially if it’s during Bank Holiday Weekend, when everyone simply has to pile up on the M25 and go to visit a historic property or gardens in a remote parts of Kent countryside.

‘Doing pretty much what you want’ can also be a bit tricky when ‘all you want to do’ is to browse your twitter stream for hours on end….By the way, a clearly wrong example since this is officially called ‘research’, a completely essential activity for any creative business owner. And yes, I’m probably deluding myself here…

Whilst ‘being able to do what you want’ can be pretty amazing feeling most of the time, it does have it’s own drawbacks. So, it didn’t surprise me at all when ‘time management’ and ‘workload productivity’ was one of the main discussion in our Handmade Business Club Facebook group this week. It’s something that everyone can relate to and I can definitely see a whole series of blog posts coming up!

But enough of talking, lets get linking, commenting and sharing!

Look forward to reading all your blogs!
